Learning to Love the Process

The fitness realm is incredibly confusing with ads telling you easy ways to lose weight and how to put on muscle mass in two months. Most of the fitness industry is about selling a product that works for some but not for most. This product is most commonly fast weight loss or muscle growth. With the ideal goal to achieve your dream body with either a magical fat burning pill or a secret exercise program that delivers fast results. These products, while exciting and fun on the surface, don't offer what most individuals need. This product of instant gratification and instant results stems from individuals wanting something so much they will believe anything that is sold to them to achieve their dream body and goal.

I can tell you this, as someone who has worked in the fitness industry for over 11 years, there are no shortcuts or magical pills. The magic comes from consistent effort day in and day out and self monitoring. This self monitoring is, in my opinion, the hardest part of the fitness journey. Self monitoring is valuing your thoughts and actions on a day to day basis and making sure that you hold true to your ideals and your goals. These consistent day to day steps are what lead to long term growth, transformation and lasting results.

The first step to this process is identifying what your goal is and what moves you to it. Is it wanting to feel better? Wanting to have more energy to do the things you want to do on a day to day basis? Is it finding a love for physical activity? Learning to push yourself to the physical and mental limit? This goal drives and moves you in a forward direction that can help you weather the storm of doubt.

How can I identify my goal?

Identify your goal by establishing SMART GOALS

  • Specific

  • Measurable

  • Attainable

  • Realistic

  • Time Bound

Once your smart goals are established identify

  • What motivates me to pursue this passion?

  • What obstacles will I encounter along the way and when I do, how will I face them?

  • Envision in your mind what this end goal will feel like and look like

And lastly once this goal is established reaching out for help will solidify your resolve to commit to it.
